Continued from…My Story of Serenity
Update Winter 2008/ 2009 A complicated series of issues within the government Surveys and Land offices, for the Placencia Peninsula, has been discovered and is delaying the processing of the mandatory new Land Certificate for the Serenity Resort property. In anticipation of a lengthy research and processing period for this Land Title the Serenity Resort property has been taken off the real estate market. Once the situation is resolved and a Land Certificate is available the price of the property will be re-evaluated and advertised for sale. Update Summer 2009 The new year is almost half over already and preparations are underway for the 11th Annual Lobsterfest and Fishing Tournament. As promised the new paving on the road now passes in front of Serenity Resort. That should help keep down the dust and mud thanks to the ministry of roads. Update January/ February 2010 The second coat of paving has been installed in front of Serenity Resort which will strengthen the roads surface. Placencia Airstrip now has Customs and Immigrations office and Maya Airlines now offers weekly flights from Placencia to Roatan. Progress on the new international airport just north of the Placencia Peninsula in Riversdale continues around the clock. There is also word of a golf course being built in Riversdale. Update March 2010 Progress on paving the peninsula road continues and first coat of paving is more than 1/2 done. There are less than 8 miles of dirt road left to pave. Update July 2010 Paving continues but as of July 2nd there is only 1/2 mile of dirt road left at the top of the peninsula near the cell tower. Update Winter 2010/ 2011 The peninsula road is completely covered with paving… no more dust or mud or bumps. Even the bumpy curve in front of Turtle Inn is repaired. Speed bumps and curbs will continue to be installed. Update June 2011 My First Registration Land Certificate has arrived. Now I will work on listing the property For Sale and continue to clean it up. State of the Peninsula… click here to read the story in the August issue of the Placencia Breeze called… “Governing a growing peninsula,” especially the second half on page 10 where it fast forwards to the present and also tells of the future. Placencia is growing and so are the property values. Update October 2011 Now that my Land Certificate is in hand Serenity Resort is once again For Sale and I’m negotiating a listing with Yearwood Properties. Contact Brian Yearwood by clicking For Sale button.
